Obituary

Dr. Orlo A. Duppstadt of 126 Grant Ave., Vandegrift died Nov. 24 (1970) at the home of his son, Arthur, RD 3 Leechburg in Allegheny Township, following a lengthy illness. Born Dec. 23, 1882 in Somerset County, the son of George and Mary Statler Duppstadt. He moved to Vandergrift in 1909 where he started a jewelry store and also practiced optometry. He received his doctor's degree in optometry from Northern Illinois College of Optometry. Member of the first Evangelical Lutheran Church, Vandergrift; the Free and Accepted Masons; Vandergrift Lodge; Syria Shrine, Pittsburgh Consistory; the BPOE, Apollo Lodge; the LOOM; the Chamber of Commerce, Vandergrift, and the Merchant's Division of the Chamber. He is survived by his son Arthur; a daughter, Mrs. Samuel (Jean) Greenlee of RD 2 Apollo; eight grandchildren; two brothers, Harold of Florida and Dr. Robert, of Bakerstown, Pa; and four sisters: Miss Elsie Duppstadt and Mrs. Clara Cleeves both of Somerset (PA); Mrs. Lillian Henderson, Indiana, Pa; and Mrs. Josephine Smith of Huntingdon, Pa. Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. and from 7 to 10 p.m. Wednesday (today) and from 10 A.M. to noon Thursday in the First Methodist Church, Custer Avenue, Vandergrift, with the Rev. Arthur Ackerman officiating. Interment Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell (PA).
