Suzie Elizabeth Earles was the second wife of Jesse D. Burwell. She was born in Unionville, Iowa. She had brothers John and William Earles and sisters Nettie (Gray), Bessie (VanLevwen), Opa and Daisy (Hank Lowe) of Centerville, Iowa. At the age of 15 married Alonzo Oliver Carson. She had four children with Alonzo, Zora on Cincinnati, Iowa; Kenny and Nova of Centerville, Iowa and Pauline Edwards of N. Kansas City, Kansas.

Suzie died 18 July 1943 in Browning, Linn County, Missouri and is buried in Unionville Cemetery, Unionville, Iowa. ²²⁸
