Richard Allen Bowlby, 62, of Somerset, died July 20, 2003 at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown. Born July 27, 1940 in Somerset, a son of Ray Dwight and Virginia (Duppstadt) Bowlby. Survived by parents of Somerset and wife, the former Mary Alice Walters, to whom he was married 42 years; children, Mrs. Roy L. (Angela) Walk of Port Matilda, and Gregory A. Bowlby, married to the former Brenda Benny of Somerset; one grandson, Carver Bowlby; three stepgrandchildren, Troy, Christina and Brandon Walk; brother and sisters, Mrs. George (Guinevere) Walker of Salt Lake City, Utah, Thomas D. Bowlby and wife, Diana of Redondo Beach, Calif., Mrs. Dennis (Gwendolyn) Ohler of Somerset and Mrs. Jack (Julia) Marker of Sipesville. A 1958 graduate of Somerset High School. Attended Somerset Alliance Church. U.S. Navy veteran of Cuban Crisis. Chief serviceman for Penelec, retiring in 1996 with 32 years service. FOE Aerie 1801, American Legion Post 181, Monday Night Eagles Couples Golf League, and Tuesday Night Fitzgerald Gold League at Middlecreek. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home. Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Somerset Alliance Church with the Rev. James E. Vandervort and Rev. Thomas J. Kroll officiating. No viewing at the church. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park.
