Research Notes:
From: Larry Walton of Sunbury, OH Feb 2004 My great grandmother was Elizabeth K. Truitt, born June 1, 1832 in Seneca County, Ohio. She may be the Becca Truitt DOB 1836 that is shown on the page for George P. Truitt. Elizabeth died September 30, 1909 in Crawford County, Ohio. On her death certificate, her parents are lsited as father George Truitt, born in Maryland, and mother Mary King, born in Seneca County, Ohio. Elizaebeth also had a younger sister named Mary Jane Truitt born October 8, 1848. Mary Jane never married and is buried next to Elizabeth. She also died in 1909. While the birth years for these two girls do not exactly match with the information on the rootsweb entry, everything else does. In a book entitled "Original Land Entries of Seneca County Ohio" dated 1992, on page 19 is the following entry: George P. Truit/Pruett N. W. 1/4 N.E. 1/4 Sec. 14 Feb. 6, 1834 Bloom Township. I do not have any further information on George Truitt or Mary King, and have not heard of a son named George. -------------------------------------------------------- I spent yesterday in the Seneca County Ohio Probate Court Archives and the county library. Below is some Truitt information I sent out to my siblings and cousins. I am now convinced that George P. Truitt as shown in your genealogy web page is my gggrandfather.
From the Tiffin Public Library, book entitled Seneca County Ohio Cemetery Inscriptions 1987, Bloom Township, page 81 Bloomville Quarry Cemetery, PASGAH. Row 12: George P. Truitt died January 10, 1866 age 72y 5m 3d. Mary wife of George P. died April 29, 1862 age 55y 6m 17d. Truman King died June 19, 1850 age 70y I believe PASGAH is the name of a church. George P. Truitt is the father of Elizabeth Truitt. He was born in Worcester County Maryland on August 7, 1793, the son of George Truitt and Elizabeth Parker. Mary King is the mother of Elizabeth Truitt. She was born in Seneca County Ohio Ocober 12, 1806. The adjacent grave of Truman King is probably a good indication that he is the father of Mary King. He would have been 26 when she was born. George P. Truitt and Mary King married April 26 1826 in Franklin County, Ohio. From The Tiffin Weekly Tribune of Friday May 9, 1862, the obituary: "In Bloom Township on Tuesday evening, April 29th, of Consumption, Mrs. Truett, wife of Geo. P. Truett, Esq., aged 56 yrs." 1509

Marriage Notes:
From: Larry Walton of Sunbury, OH Feb 2004 George P. Truitt and Mary King married April 26 1826 in Franklin County, Ohio. -------------------------------------- The marriage of George P. Truitt and Mary King on April 26 1826 in Franklin County, Ohio. For some period of time after Ohio became a state in 1803, Franklin County reached from present day city of Columbus to Lake Erie, including what is now Seneca County, along with Delaware, Crawford, Sandusky, etc. So they may have been located in what is now Bloom Township, Seneca County, when they married. I doubt I will ever figure it out for sure.
