General Notes: Eleanore of Austria, sometimes known also as Leonor of Castile (November 15, 1498 - February 25, 1558) was born Archduchess of Austria and Infanta of Spain, became subsequently in turn queen consort of Portugal (1518-1521) and of France, also duchess of Touraine (1547-1558) as dower. Named Leonor de Austria in Spanish, Leonor(a) in Portuguese and "royne Eleonore" or Alienor in French. Eleonore married Manuel I "the Fortunate" King of Portugal on 16 Jul 1518.1696 (Manuel I "the Fortunate" King of Portugal was born on 31 May 1469 in Alcochete, Setúbal, Portugal and died on 13 Dec 1521 in Lisbon, Lisboa, Portugal 1696.). The cause of his death was Plague. Eleonore next married Francis I de Valois King of France on 4 Jul 1530.1695 (Francis I de Valois King of France was born on 12 Sep 1494 in Cognac, Poitou, France,1695 died on 31 Mar 1547 in Chateau de Rambouillet, Ile de France, France 1695 and was buried in Saint Denis Basilique (Saint Denis, Centre, France) 1694.) |
