General Notes: Jacob was very industrious and a wise business man. He overcame many difficulties and hardships to become quite wealthy. At the time of his death, his estate was worth from $35,000 to $40,000. He farmed and did a did a great amount of teaming and milling. He made a trip to New Orleans in 1825 by flat boat down the Stillwater, Miami, Ohio, and Mississippi Rivers. His teaming was northly which at that time was regarded as hazardous and difficult. He at one time was a member of the Christian Church and later the German Baptist. Jacob married Susannah Blickenstaff. (Susannah Blickenstaff was born in 1803 in Pennsylvania, USA 561 and died on 23 Oct 1834 in Newton Township, Miami, Ohio, USA 561.) Jacob next married Anne Burns on 17 Jan 1820 in Miami County, Ohio, USA.561 (Anne Burns was born in 1800 in Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania, USA 561 and died on 14 Aug 1822 in Newton Township, Miami, Ohio, USA 561.) Jacob next married Sarah Boggs, daughter of Ezekiel Boggs Sr. and Eva Catharine Haney, on 24 Jun 1844 in Shelby County, Ohio, USA.561 (Sarah Boggs was born on 2 Jan 1826 and died on 17 Jul 1896 in Newton Township, Miami, Ohio, USA.) |
