OBITUARY
BYRON EARL KING
The remains of Staff Sergeant Bryon Earl King, son of Mr. and Mrs. Finas E. King, who was killed in action over Berlin, June 21, 1944, will arrive in La Plata Friday night, December 16.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 18, at 2:00 at the Presbyterian Church here. The La Plata American Legion will have charge of the military service. Rev. W.H. Hansford will conduct the service.

Byron Earl was born April 3, 1923 near Bucklin, Missouri and moved to this community with his parents at the age of six years. He graduated from La Plata high School with the Class of 1940 and attended Kirksville Teachers College, having almost earned a degree when called into service.

February 27, 1943 he entered the service and was assigned to the Eight Army Air Force. He became a gunner on a plane which was based at London, England and was on his twenty-third mission when he met his death over enemy territory. His body was laid to rest in a cemetery near Berlin in the Russian controlled area.
