Research Notes:
From a letter written by Samuel Davis on January 25, 1890, to Elmo who was a student at Baylor University in Waco, "Jimmy was not confined to his bed but about 20 hours before he died. He had congestion of the brain, so Dr. Law said. He had been a little pale for some time but he would not say that he was sick and never took any medicine." The story in Davis Data continues: He had been taken ill a distance from the house and was brought home by Charles Blakey who was at Samuel's at the time. As Jimmy became worse Charley went for Dr. Law at Salado, but Jimmy was dead before he arrived. James B. B. Davis was buried in the Salado Cemetery, but the grave was not marked. 1764
