OBITUARY
Services Thursday for James M. Belt The funeral for James Monroe Belt, 77 years old, will be held Thursday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock at the Tempel chapel. The Rev. George Gray will conduct the service and burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery near Waverly.
Mr. Belt died here at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Dora Starr, after a week's illness. He had moved to Lexington from Waverly in 1942. The son of Charles N. and Martha McGinness Belt, he was born on March 1, 1872 in Camden County, Missouri. He was married to Millie Noland and to this union were born five daughters and three sons.
Later he married Birdie M. Baker, who died on January 17 at Hodge. They had one son. Survivors include four sons, Ezekiel and James Monroe, Jr., of Camden; John W., of Lexington, and Pvt. Bert V. Belt of Ft. Smith, Ark.; five daughters, Mrs. Grace M. Ray of Hodge; Mrs. Martha Key of Waverly; Mrs. Mattie Schowe and Mrs. Opal Erwin of Kansas City and Mrs. Starr; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Sailor of Slater, and Mrs. Addie Packard of McClellen, Calif., 24 grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren.
