bullet  General Notes:

Jimmie Hatcher, Greasy Doc Johnson, and John Beckett Hooker (brothers-in-law) found a place at a saloon where they could bore a small hole, run a straw through it, and suck out the whiskey. Any of them could have afforded to buy whiskey, but simply enjoyed pulling a prank. The saloon keeper decided to teach them a lesson and put something in the whiskey to make them sick. The family, afterwards, didn’t believe he intended to really harm any of them. It worked and all three young men got sick. John Beckett Hooker and Greasy Doc Johnson began to eat things (lard, etc.) which would induce vomiting and after their stomachs were emptied they recovered. But Jimmie Hatcher was too stubborn, he wouldn’t do that, and he died from it.

This story was picked up through Hatcher genealogy.
