OBITUARY
Lesil Edward Elliott (May 26, 1927 - March 12, 2008)
Lesil Elliott, age 80, of Malvern passed away March 12, 2008 at HSC Medical Center. He was born May 26, 1927, in Rolla, Arkansas, to Annie Elizabeth Mathews and James William Elliott. He was a member of the "Lono Five" basketball team of 1947 (a group of men who after a winning season of 22 \endash 5 in Lono High School continued to live within 12 miles of one another for the next 61 years). Lesil was a veteran of the Korean War where he attained the rank of Sergeant, received two purple hearts, and the infantry badge. He retired from Reynolds Metals Aluminum Company after 28 years. He was a 32nd degree Mason and member of the Rockport Lodge #58. Lesil loved spending time with his family, friends, and the outdoors. He especially enjoyed turkey hunting and was an honorary member of Cooper Hunting Club. He was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Malvern for over 55 years, and the Disciples of Christ Sunday School Class. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, A.T. Elliott and Cecil Elliott; sisters, Jesse Baker, Hazel Jordan, Pearl Skinner, Faye Garlington, and Virginia LaSalle. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Jasmine Riggan Elliott; two sisters, Laura Brown of Bryant and Tewanee Cooper and husband, Burl of Malvern; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Tina Elliott of Malvern, Ronda and Don Paladino of Magnolia, Sandy and Richard Peel of Russellville, and Shirley and Mark Myers of Moro Bay; eight grandchildren, Cole Dugan (Dawn), Ginger Dugan, Nick Paladino (Jennifer), Andy Paladino (Brooke), Vann Tucker, Beth Tucker, Megan Myers, and Mallory Myers; and great-grandchildren, Dalton and Ashton Dugan. Visitation will be Thursday, March 13th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Regency Funeral Home in Malvern. The funeral will be Friday, March 14th at 10:00 a.m. in the Regency Chapel with Brothers John Owen and Ron Holt officiating. Burial will follow at Lono Cemetery with Masonic Rites by Rockport Masonic Lodge #58. The family will be at 14794 Hwy. 9, Malvern. Memorials may be made to Lono Cemetery Fund. Pallbearers are Eric Ivy, Alex Skinner, Truman Skinner, Don Baker, Lefty Baker, Herman Potts, Troy Garlington, and Van Beck. Honorary pallbearers are Bill Ledbetter, Carl Cunningham, Pat Ross, Don Elliott, Burl Dean Cooper, Jack Sulton, Otis Brumley, Bill Williams, Dr. Ray Bollen, the staff of HSC Medical Center, and Hospice Home Health. Arrangements are by Regency Funeral Home.
