WEDDING ANNOUNCEMENT
Miss Clift, Mr. Neeper Pledge Vows
Patricia Kay Clift and John Stephen Neeper exchanged marriage vows Saturday evening, Aug. 14, in the Glen Rose Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. and Mrs. James R. Clift and Mr. and Mrs. 0. L. (Bud) Neeper are parents of the couple.
Grandparents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Clift and the late Mr. and Mrs. Joe A. Scrimshire. Grandparents of the bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. 0. L. Neeper Sr. and Mr. and Mrs. John H. White.
Dr. Morris L. Cloud officiated at the double-ring ceremony and Mrs. Sandra Unde, cousin of the bride, and Mrs. Bonnie Hawthorne were musicians. Miss Dianna Tiller, soloist, accompanied by Mrs. Linde sang Endless Love and That's The Way. At the close of the ceremony she sang Bless This House.
The ceremony was performed before a background of a fifteen branched candle arch and spiral candelabras holding white tapers. Ferns were interspread at the altar. Hurricane globes with candles surrounded by ivy were placed in the church windows.
Given in marriage by her parents, the bride was escorted by her father. She wore a gown of silk organza over satin featuring a Queen Anne neckline edged in lace. Lace appliques covered the fitted bodice. Matching appliques were placed on the full sheer sleeves, wide cuffs and scattered on the skirt and chapel length train. Lace trimmed the skirt hemline and train. She wore a fingertip veil of Chantilly lace attached to a lace covered Juliet cap. She carried a cascade bouquet of white roses, stephanotis and baby's breath.
Charlotte Mooney, was maid of honor, Shelia Gill and Paula Stewart, cousin of the bride, were bridesmaids. They wore formals of light green crepe with off-the-shoulder wide candlelight lace ruffle at the necklines and carried single white roses.
Aimee and Anna Hawthorne were flower girls .They wore dresses of light green crepe with candlelight lace yokes and sleeves with lace ruffles around the yoke and skirt.
Brent Whitley, cousin of the bride, was ringbearer.
Paul Neeper, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. Groomsmen were Terry Cate and David Schoggins. Candles were lighted by Eugene Clift and Scottie Clift, brother and cousin of the bride. They also served as ushers. Male attendants wore silver tuxedos with carnations boutonnieres. The bridegroom wore a white tux with white rosebud boutonniere.
The bride presented her mother and grandmother with a rose as she entered the church and to the bridegroom's mother and grandmothers as the couple left the altar.
The bride's book was placed on a table covered with light green overlaid with a white crocheted doth. A hurricane globe candle surrounded by ivy was placed on the table. Mrs. Mary Jane Jones, sister of the bridegroom, and Mrs. Debbie Phillips presided at the bride's book.
A reception was held following the ceremony. Separate tables for punch and cake and the bridegroom's table were covered in light green and white crocheted cloths made by the bride's grandmother. The three-tiered cake was placed over a fountain and topped by a lace arch over a wedding bell in front of a heart with rings hanging from the top of the arch.
Vicki Pate and LeeAnn Whitley, cousins of the bride served punch and cake. A chocolate cake shaped as a guitar surrounded by grapes and apples and a silver coffee service was on the bridegroom's table. Mrs. Mary Jane Jones and Mrs. Pauline Treadwell, sister and aunt of the bridegroom, served cake and coffee.
Donna Pate and Karen Whitley, cousins of the bride, gave out scrolls prior to the ceremony and rice bags at the reception.
The wedding was directed by Mrs. Joe Ann Morris, aunt of the bride. Mrs. Sylvia Clift, Mrs. Bonnie Hawthorne, Mrs. Linda Pate and Mrs. Ann Whitley were in charge of the reception.
