OBITUARY

Born in Bartonville, Illinois, January 15, 1885, daughter of Thomas and Sarah Smith Topping, and one of 9 children, Mary Berdelle Topping became the wife of Mr. Charles Wesley Truitt, in Chillicothe, IL, on July 26, 1902. He died in Peoria, Nov 25, 1942. She was formerly a cook and an excellent baker, at Proctor Endowment Home for 15 years.

Mrs. Truitt was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church and Central City Chapter 42, Order of Eastern Star. Preceded in death by her husband, 4 sisters, and 1 brother, she is survived by 1 son, Mr. Adrian Earl Truitt, of Peoria, and 2 daughters, Mrs. Hazel Irene Seanor of Bakersfield, CA, and Mrs. Allegra Colborn of Deerfield Beach, FLA; 2 sisters, Mrs. Jessie Allington, of Chillicothe, IL, and Mrs. Bessie Weese of Arlington, VA; 1 brother, Elmer Topping of Chicago, IL, 7 Grandchildren and 23 Great Grandchildren.

Burial Chillicothe City Cemetery with Central City Chapter of Eastern Star to conduct rites.
