OBITUARY - Mrs. Dora Alice Atkins Passed Away in Albuquerque, N. M.
Dora Alice Atkins, daughter of Martha Ann and Granville Barrows, was born near Browning, Missouri, March 31, 1886, and departed this life September 16, 1950, at St. Joseph Hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico, age 64 years, 5 months and 16 days.
She was united in marriage October 31, 1908, to Jacob G. Atkins of Browning, Missouri, and to this union four children were born, three sons, Verl J., of Ouray, Colorado; Orvis S., of Albuquerque; and Vaun B., of Albuquerque, and one daughter, Mrs. Miles M. Vaghn of Albuquerque, New Mexico. All children survive, also two sisters and four brothers and eight grandchildren. Sisters surviving are Mrs. Veda Warren, Purdin, Mo. and Mrs. Noel Hubbard, Hale, Mo.; brothers are Ervin Barrows of Purdin, Mo., Marvin Barrows, of Linneus, Mo., Fred Barrows of Ness City, Kansas and Everett Barrows of Cooley City, Washington.
Dora Alice Atkins was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Gladys Myers and two brothers, Ben and George Barrows.
The last thirteen years she resided in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Funeral services (were held) Tuesday afternoon, September 19, 1950, at two o’clock, at the Strong-Thorne Palm Chapel in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Rev. James G. Brawn, pastor of the First Methodist church, officiating. Interment was in Sunset Memorial Park, Albuquerque, N. M.
Attending the funeral services were: Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Barrows, Purdin, Mo.; Mrs. Veda Warren, Purdin, Mo.; Mrs. Nellie Barrows and son, Edwin, Purdin, Mo.; and Mr. and Mrs. Herman Atkins, Gallup, N. M.
The children, all of Albuquerque, N. M., and Verle of Ouray, Colo., wish to extend their heartfelt thanks for the many cards and flowers sent by the relatives and friends whom knew their mother in and around Browning, Mo. 325
