OBITUARY - Rites at Browning For Pauline Hooker
Miss Pauline Hooker, Linn County native and longtime Browning resident, died Saturday at age 89. She was born Feb. 4, 1894, west of Browning, the daughter of Enoch and Ida Ann Gable Hooker, and died April 30 at the Sullivan County Hospital in Milan.
She attended South Hooker school and later moved with her widowed mother to Browning where she spent the rest of her life. She never married.
Her grandfather, John Gable, built the first house in Browning.
Miss Hooker is survived by one sister, Ollie McCalmont, Phoenix, Ariz., and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by 13 brothers and sisters: Eva, James, Mary Alice, Charles, Ada, Florence, Clara, George, Hattie, Iva, Grace, Blanche, and Violette.
She joined Locust Valley Baptist Church at an early age.
Services for Miss Hooker were held Monday at Wright Funeral Home in Browning with the Rev. Don Almond officiating. Mrs. Susan Rudloff was soloist accompanied by organist Mrs. Ila Nevins.
Casket-bearers were Jerry Bennett, Max Bennett, Leon Bennett, Rick Bennett, Johnnie Grime, and Harry Lett.
