OBITUARY - Mrs. Ida Hooker Passed Away at Her Home

Ida A. Gable, born October 15, 1853 in Green county, Pa., and passed peacefully away at her home in Browning, Mo., August 27, 1934. Age 80 years, 10 months and 21 days. She moved with her parents, John and Mary Gable from Green county, Pa. to Linn county, Mo. in 1868, settled on the farm now owned by her youngest sister. Became a christian in early life, first a member of United Brethern Church. Later a member of the Locust Valley Baptist Church until her passing. Married July 11, 1871 to Enoch M. Hooker, he having passed on 1910. To this union fifteen children were born. Ten survive, Hattie Borden and Ollie McCalmont, Pheonix(sic), Ariz., Florence Wheeler, Lineville, Ia., Iva Summey, Kenton, Ky., Grace Morelock, Milan, Mo., Blanche Johnson, Alice Bennett and Ada, Pauline and Violet, all of the home. The deceased are Eva, James, Charles, Alpha and George. 19 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Davis, Centerville, Ia., Mrs. Alice Fishback, Browning, Mo., and one brother J. D. Gable, Oklahoma City, Okla. She was a loving dutiful mother.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2:30 at the home by Rev. J. Drinkard a former paster and life long friend. Interment in the family cemetery on the Hooker farm.

Those attending Mrs. Hooker’s funeral from a distance were: Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Hooker, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Hooker, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Cox and Mr. and Mrs. Sammie Davis, all of Lineville, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Bob Crouse, Leon, Iowa; W. E. Davis and Mrs. W. A. Stark, Centerville, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Sam Logsdon and Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Clements of Brookfield, Mo.

Attend Hooker Funeral

Mr. and Mrs. Glen Wheeler were called to Browning, Mo., Thursday to attend the funeral of Mrs. Wheeler’s aged mother, Mrs. Ida Hooker who had been ill for several months. Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Crouch of Leon, Mr. and Mrs. Arlo Cox and J. M. Hooker accompanied them.

Administrator’s or Executor’s Notice

Notice is hereby given, that letters of administration upon the estate of Ida A. Hooker, deceased, have been granted to the undersigned by the Probate Court of Linn County. Missouri, bearing date the 6th day of September, 1934.

All persons having claims against said estate are required to exhibit them to me for allowance within six months after the date of granting said letters or they may be precluded from any benefit of such estate; and if such claims be not exhibited within one year from the date of granting said letters they shall be forever barred.

After her husband’s death, Ida moved to Browning, along with those of her daughters that were as yet unmarried. Ida Hooker, whose father (John Gable) built the first house in Browning, died August 27, 1934. 175
