OBITUARY-Mrs. Mary Gable Died.
Mary Rumble Gable was born in Fayette county Pennsylvania, April 4, 1824 and died Sept. 11, 1910 at the age of 86 years 4 months and 27 days. She was married to John Gable, Dec. 14, 1844 and to this union were born ten children, seven survive her viz: Martha Burwell, Ida Hooker, John Gable, Jessie Gable, Hattie Hooker, Lizzie Davis and Alice Fishback. She united with the Baptist church in early childhood and lived a faithful member until death. She was loved and respected by all who knew her. A few days before her death she told the children she was going to die and not to weep for her for she was prepared to go, she had them sing two old familiar songs "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" and "Nearer My God To Thee" and wanted these to be sung when she died. The call at last was given and mother has gone home. "Yet again we hope to meet her when the day of life is fled and in joy to greet here where no farewell tears are shed, the vacant place the empty chair we see them day by day and Oh! it fills our hearts with care since mother went away, but though the light has left us here like the setting of the sun, we'll trust the ever Father dear and say thy will be done." The funeral services were held at Mount Pleasant Church funeral sermon being delivered by Rev. F. Carl Truex of Linneus.
