Nancy died in 1887 after giving birth to twin daughters a few months after moving to Indiana. She had returned to Covington to be cared for by her sister Melvina, the wife of John Tobias. She died at the Tobias residence on a Thursday and funeral services were conducted at the German Baptist Church in Covington on Saturday morning at 10 o'clock. She is buried, along with her twin daughters, in Highland Cemetery, Covington, Ohio.
Reuben and Nancy had eight children, six of whom lived to maturity. All of the children were born in Newberry Township, Ohio (Miami County), probably in Covington.
ITEMS FOUND IN THE (COVINGTON) TRIBUNE GAZETTE (1) Mrs. Reub. Minnich, a former resident of Shideler, Indiana, died at the residence of John Tobias (her sister Melvina's home) on Thursday. Funeral services at the German Baptist Church on Saturday morning at 10 o'clock. (2) The case of Mrs. Reuben Minnich, notice of whose death appeared in these columns last week, was a peculiar one in its manifestations. There were symptoms of jaundice, yellow atrophy of the liver, cancer of the stomach and ulceration of the stomach. But a post mortem, in the presence of Drs. Rosenbecker and Kendall of Covington, and Fahnestock and Coifeen of Piqua, discovered the facts that the stomach was in good condition, the liver normal, and that the disease was localized in the pancreas, which was in a cancerous condition-- a very unusual disease.
